AARON HAWN, PH.D.
Learning Analytics for Action
PRACTICE + RESEARCH
Hi, I'm Aaron Hawn, Research Affiliate at the Penn Center for Learning Analytics and Managing Member at Thirteen Ways Consulting. I work with educational programs to use experience, data, and collaborative process to improve learning.

I have managed school accountability, assessment, evaluation, and technology projects for over a decade and my research builds on that experience to inform how schools use evidence to learn and improve.
EXPERIENCE
I recently finished a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science in Education (Learning Science) at Teachers College, Columbia University. My dissertation analyzed log files from an assessment platform and teacher survey data to explore how educators use assessment data and how they feel about data use in general.
I've worked with the research labs of Dr. Ryan Baker on predictive analytics for schools and Dr. Alex Bowers on an NSF-funded study of teacher data use in Nassau County.

Professionally, I was Director of Analytics and Evaluation at the Opportunity Charter School in New York City and taught English Language Arts and Composition at the Middle School, High School, and College Level.
